Continuous learning and professional development play an important role in maintaining high standards of animal care and welfare. The Cango Wildlife Klein Karoo Business Relay

On Thursday, 22 October 2026, the streets of Oudtshoorn came alive with excitement, friendly competition and incredible community spirit as the annual Cango Wildlife Klein Karoo Business Relay returned to Baron van Reede Street, welcoming an impressive 60 teams for an unforgettable evening.
Organised in collaboration with Jakhals Events and presented under the banner of the Klein Karoo Athletics Fund (KKAF), the event brought together local businesses, schools, public institutions, families and friends for an evening dedicated to fitness, teamwork and community connection.
Starting at 18:00 in front of Santa Fe Spur, participants took to the streets in running and walking relay categories. Running teams consisted of six athletes completing 2 km each, while walking teams featured four participants tackling the same distance per leg. With categories catering for men, women, mixed teams, schools and participants with special needs, the event encouraged involvement from across the community.
With 60 teams taking part, the atmosphere was electric! From enthusiastic supporters cheering along the route to teams showing off their creativity in the fancy dress competition, the evening was filled with laughter, determination and true Klein Karoo gees. Medals, category prizes and lucky draws added to the excitement, making it a memorable occasion for participants and spectators alike.
Beyond the finish line, the relay served a greater purpose. The event supported KKAF, a non-profit organisation committed to developing local athletic talent, encouraging sports participation and strengthening community relationships throughout the greater Oudtshoorn area.
The success of the evening was made possible through the generous contributions of our sponsors and partners, including Jakhals Events, KKAF, Oudtshoorn Municipality, Klein Karoo Event Medics, Rain Maker powered by RealNet, Oudtshoorn Courant, Spur, MSEC Security, Cash Crusaders, Beans About Coffee and Surval Boutique Wine Estate. A special thank you goes to Surval Boutique Wine Estate for sponsoring our MC's accommodation and to Left Sleeve for keeping the crowd entertained and the energy high throughout the evening.
At Cango Wildlife, we believe that making a positive difference extends beyond wildlife conservation. Events like the Klein Karoo Business Relay provide an opportunity to support local initiatives, strengthen community bonds and celebrate the people who make our region so special.
To all 60 teams, our supporters, organisers and sponsors, thank you for making this year's Business Relay such a memorable success. The Klein Karoo spirit was truly alive and well!
