Continuous learning and professional development play an important role in maintaining high standards of animal care and welfare. From 7 to 10 September 2026, I had the privilege of attending a four-day Animal Husbandry Workshop hosted at Lory Park Animal and Owl Sanctuary and presented by Wild Welfare UK. The workshop was an incredibly valuable experience, offering the opportunity to expand my knowledge, exchange ideas with fellow animal care professionals and gain...
Exciting New Beginnings

As Cango Wildlife celebrates 40 years of conservation in 2026, we continue to introduce new ways for visitors, volunteers and interns to experience and connect with our facility. October marked two exciting milestones with the official launch of BOA Pods at Cango Wildlife and our new Circle Volunteer & Intern Community Hub.
BOA Pods: A Unique Overnight Wildlife Experience
For the first time, visitors can extend their Cango Wildlife experience with an overnight stay in one of our six brand-new luxury BOA Pods, nestled within the beautiful surroundings of our conservation facility.
These elevated A-frame pods offer a peaceful retreat for two, complete with private decks, en-suite bathrooms, comfortable interiors and skylights perfect for admiring the Karoo night sky. Surrounded by lush greenery, natural wetlands and thriving birdlife, guests can enjoy a unique connection with nature while still having all the comforts of a modern getaway.
Each stay includes a complimentary breakfast at BOA Café, full-day access to Cango Wildlife, an educational guided tour, and use of our swimming pool and braai facilities. Guests can also enjoy optional room service, VIP tours and Ambassador Animal Connections to make their stay even more memorable.
With rates starting from R2,400 per pod per night for two people, BOA Pods offer something truly special for couples, nature enthusiasts and anyone looking for a different kind of Klein Karoo escape.
More importantly, every booking contributes to the work of the BOA Foundation (Because of Animals), our non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting animal care and conservation initiatives both within our facility and beyond. Every stay is therefore an opportunity to enjoy an unforgettable experience while contributing to a greater conservation mission.
Circle Volunteer & Intern Community Hub: Connecting Our Conservation Community
We are equally excited to announce the launch of our new Circle Volunteer & Intern Community Hub, a dedicated digital platform designed to transform the way prospective, current and past volunteers and interns connect with Cango Wildlife.
The platform brings everything together in one convenient online space, allowing prospective participants to explore programme information, review dates and rates, ask questions and complete their entire booking process in just minutes.
Circle introduces three distinct programme pathways: the Cango Wildlife Volunteer Programme, offering hands-on experience in daily animal care and enrichment; the Conservation Internship, providing structured practical learning across our specialist animal care sections; and the Research Internship, allowing students and aspiring researchers to contribute to meaningful wildlife research and conservation projects.
The hub also provides access to programme FAQs, volunteer and intern reviews, university partnership information, accommodation details and booking policies. Once booked, participants gain access to a dedicated Volunteer & Intern Hub, where they can complete their onboarding and prepare for their stay.
Importantly, Circle is about more than just bookings. It also provides a space for our past volunteers and interns to remain connected with Cango Wildlife long after their programmes have ended. Through the hub, former participants can stay in touch, reconnect with fellow volunteers and interns, follow updates from the facility and continue being part of our growing conservation community.

By bringing prospective, current and past participants together, Circle allows us to build lasting relationships that extend far beyond the time spent at our facility, creating a global network of individuals united by their passion for wildlife.
Both launches reflect our continued commitment to growth, innovation and meaningful wildlife experiences. Whether it's waking up to the sounds of nature in a BOA Pod or beginning a hands-on conservation journey through Circle, we are excited to welcome more people into the Cango Wildlife family.
Forty years on, our mission remains the same: to inspire meaningful connections between people, wildlife and conservation.
