Continuous learning and professional development play an important role in maintaining high standards of animal care and welfare. From 7 to 10 September 2026, I had the privilege of attending a four-day Animal Husbandry Workshop hosted at Lory Park Animal and Owl Sanctuary and presented by Wild Welfare UK. The workshop was an incredibly valuable experience, offering the opportunity to expand my knowledge, exchange ideas with fellow animal care professionals and gain...
Dust, Determination and a Little Klein Karoo Glory

The Cango Wildlife team traded their usual working environment for muddy trails and obstacles at the 2026 Dust 4 Glory Challenge.
On 17 October 2026, Wilgewandel Holiday Farm in Oudtshoorn came alive with energy, determination and plenty of muddy smiles as participants gathered for the annual Klein Karoo Dust 4 Glory Obstacle Challenge.
Among those taking on the challenge were two familiar faces from Cango Wildlife, Anneke and Tamryn, who swapped their daily routines for the dust and obstacles of the Medium Challenge.
While a podium finish wasn't on the cards, the pair tackled the course with enthusiasm, determination and a healthy sense of humour. For them, the day was less about finishing first and more about embracing the experience, testing their limits and enjoying every muddy moment along the way.
Beyond the physical challenge, Dust 4 Glory once again demonstrated the incredible community spirit that makes the Klein Karoo so special. Bringing together individuals, friends, families and businesses, the event celebrated outdoor adventure, teamwork and the simple joy of getting involved.
At Cango Wildlife, we believe that supporting local initiatives is an important part of being an active member of our community. Events such as Dust 4 Glory provide an opportunity to strengthen local connections while celebrating the beautiful region we are fortunate enough to call home.
A heartfelt congratulations goes to Wilgewandel Holiday Farm, the organisers, volunteers, sponsors and every participant who contributed to another successful event.
As for Anneke and Tamryn? They may have left with a little more dust than they arrived with, but certainly no shortage of great memories. Perhaps next year we'll see a few more Cango Wildlife faces on the starting line!
