Knowledge, Laughter and a Little Friendly Competition

Recently, Oudtshoorn & De Rust Tourism hosted its highly anticipated Tourism Quiz Night at the beautiful Surval Boutique Olive Estate, bringing together tourism stakeholders from across the region for an evening that celebrated collaboration within the industry.

With an impressive 17 teams taking part, the competition was fierce. Participants included representatives from Garden Route & Klein Karoo Tourism, George Tourism, local tourism businesses and attractions, all putting their knowledge to the test while enjoying an evening filled with laughter and camaraderie.

Adding to the excitement were prizes valued at more than R40,000, making every question worth fighting for.

As always, Cango Wildlife embraced the spirit of the event, entering not one, but four teams:

Crazy Train
Can Go Wild
Onesie Upon a Time
The Oudtshoorn Outlaws
The evening's theme was simply the letter "O," and our teams certainly rose to the occasion with creative costumes and plenty of enthusiasm.

Among the standout performances, Onesie Upon a Time secured an impressive 4th place finish, while Can Go Wild and Crazy Train tied for 8th place in a closely contested field. Although the trophies may have gone elsewhere this year, our teams certainly won plenty of smiles along the way.

One of the night's biggest highlights came during the dance competition.

Our very own Zoological Manager, Dedré, stole the show with an unforgettable performance dressed in an Eeyore onesie, dancing her way to an outstanding second place finish. Her enthusiasm perfectly captured the light-hearted spirit of the evening and proved that sometimes it's not just about knowing the answers, it's about having the confidence to have fun.

Events like the Tourism Quiz Night are about far more than competition. They provide an opportunity for tourism partners to connect, strengthen relationships and celebrate the incredible industry that brings so many visitors to the Klein Karoo each year.

As proud members of the local tourism community, Cango Wildlife is honoured to participate in events that encourage collaboration, shared learning and community spirit. Together, we continue working towards a common goal: showcasing Oudtshoorn and the greater Klein Karoo as a world-class destination for visitors from across South Africa and around the globe.
