It is this spirit of collaboration that formed the foundation of the recent Big Tree Marketing Educational, hosted by Cango Wildlife in partnership with Oudtshoorn & De Rust Tourism.

Held on 23 June 2026, the evening brought together leading tour operators from across South Africa with tourism products from throughout the Greater Oudtshoorn region, creating an opportunity to strengthen relationships, showcase local experiences, and inspire future itineraries that will bring more visitors to the Klein Karoo.

The event welcomed representatives from Big Tree Marketing's extensive trade network, including tour operators, destination management companies, and travel specialists who collectively influence thousands of travel decisions every year.

Each exhibitor had the opportunity to introduce their product through a series of concise presentations while also creating beautifully curated displays that reflected the character of their establishments. Guests enjoyed an impressive showcase of Klein Karoo hospitality, with tasting tables featuring everything from homemade soups, artisan wines, lemon cordial, and handcrafted desserts to Karoo-inspired delicacies, local produce, and innovative culinary creations.

The evening quickly evolved into far more than a presentation session.

It became a celebration of everything that makes the Klein Karoo unique: authentic experiences, genuine hospitality, passionate tourism professionals, and businesses that understand the value of working together rather than competing in isolation.

Following months of disruption caused by the devastating floods that affected the region, many tourism businesses have faced damaged infrastructure, road closures, booking cancellations, and uncertainty. Despite these challenges, the Educational demonstrated the resilience of the local tourism industry and the determination of businesses to continue investing in relationships, promoting one another, and showcasing the destination with pride.

One of the evening's greatest successes was the opportunity for genuine conversation.
