Be Part Of Their Story

Posted on Thu April 30, 2026.

Every visit to Cango Wildlife leaves an impression. A moment with a Lemur. A glimpse of a Leopard resting high in the trees. A flash of movement from a Cheetah. But behind those moments are lives that are cared for, supported, and protected every single day.

Now, there is a way to be part of that.

Our Animal Adoption Programme offers something more meaningful than a once-off experience. It is an opportunity to directly support the animals you connect with, while contributing to the conservation work that protects their wild counterparts.

Each animal has a story.

Jo and Jolie, our Black and White Ruffed Lemurs, are full of energy and personality. Always moving, always curious, they bring life to every corner of their space. Critically Endangered in the wild, their presence is a reminder of what is at stake.

Herbert and Hilda, our Pygmy Hippos, take life at a slower pace. Calm, steady, and quietly charming, they represent a species facing increasing pressure in their natural habitat.

Then there is Nevada, our White Bengal Tiger. Powerful, composed, and unmistakable. A presence that commands attention, and a symbol of the complexity of wildlife care in a changing world.

From the playful energy of Speckles the Spotted-Necked Otter, to the quiet grace of Nanji the African Leopard, each animal reflects something different. Personality. Behaviour. Instinct. Survival.

And then there are the unexpected favourites.

Boo, our African Grey Parrot, who turns every day into a performance. Dobby, our Squirrel Monkey, always moving, always watching. Malcolm, our Marabou Stork, with a presence that is impossible to ignore.

Each one offers a connection. Each one gives you a reason to care. Through adoption, your support goes directly towards their care. Their nutrition. Their enrichment. Their wellbeing. It also contributes to the broader conservation efforts that extend beyond our facility.

This is not ownership. It is partnership. It is choosing to stand behind the animals that shape your experience, and ensuring that their care continues long into the future.

Because conservation is not only something you visit. It is something you take part in.

Veterinary care sits quietly at the centre of everything, supporting each animal, guiding every decision, and ensuring that those in our care receive the attention they deserve. It is not always visible to visitors, but it is always present. This year, we took a moment to reflect on the people behind that care. Dr...

For Every Kind Of Mother

Mother’s Day is often marked with flowers, gifts, and quiet moments of appreciation. This year at Cango Wildlife, it becomes something more. A two day celebration, on 09 and 10 May, dedicated not only to human mothers, but to every form of motherhood we are privileged to witness. Because care is not limited to one species. Across the facility, motherhood takes many shapes. It is seen in the quiet watchfulness of a...

A Community That Shows Up

In Oudtshoorn, wildlife is part of daily life. And when that life crosses into homes, schools, or businesses, there is often one person people call first - Mornay Thysse. For years, Mornay has been the steady hand in moments of panic. Safely removing and relocating snakes, protecting both people and wildlife with calm, skill, and respect for the animals he works with. His role is not always easy. It is often urgent,...
