The Story Behind The Menu

Because a menu is not just a list of food. It’s supposed to make you hungry. It’s supposed to give you choices. And, ideally, it shouldn't make you eat the same thing for the 47th time.

We could bore you with the whole “menu development strategy and culinary philosophy” thing… but honestly, nobody needs that while they're hungry.

So here’s the simple version:

Yes, there’s no pizza.

We know. We can hear the complaints already.

But let's be honest — there are some pretty cool places around town making really good pizza, and we’re all for spreading the food love. So to our team se said:  go support them. Your favourite pizza place will appreciate it, and we promise we won't take it personally.

Some old favourites are staying.

We’re not completely mad.

The things you love will still be around because sometimes you just want the familiar, reliable favourite that gets the job done.

So what's different?

We wanted food that is:

Filling.
Because surviving a busy shift on potato crisps and a coffee is not a sustainable business model.

Healthy-ish.
Nope, a bowl of leaves pretending to be lunch. We mean proper food that makes you feel like you've actually eaten.

A little different.
New flavours, different combinations and a few things that might make you think, “Actually… that's pretty damn good.”

Our sandwich shop…

We decided to give the humble sandwich a bit of a personality transplant.

Rather than endlessly rotating the same old cheese-and-tomato, ham-and-cheese suspects, we're changing up the fillings and asking everyone to be a little more adventurous.

Different combinations. Different flavours. A few surprises.

Because a sandwich doesn't have to be boring just because it's between two pieces of bread.

Good enough to take home.
Because sometimes the last thing you want to do after a long shift is go home and cook. We've got you.

At BOA, we also know that our staff work hard. Really hard. So sometimes you need food that feels like home — hearty, comforting and substantial enough to keep you going.

And then there are those days…

You know the ones.

The days when you don't want wholesome. You don't want balanced. You don't want to see a vegetable unless it's been deep-fried.

You want something that hits like a takeaway.

We've got those days covered too.

So, basically…

To our staff. Eat well. Try something different. Fill your belly. Take some home. And occasionally eat something gloriously unhealthy because, quite frankly, you’ve earned it.
